Drag on Australia's growth coming to an end 07 September, 2009
The drag on growth from the drawdown in inventories appears to be coming to an end, with Australian firms planning a significant re-stocking of inventories and expecting a boost in sales in the months ahead. However despite this promising outlook, the improvement comes off a low comparative base, with expectations measured against the December 2008 quarter, Australia's first quarter of negative economic growth in eight years.

Dun & Bradstreet's Global Risk Indicator places Australia in the top four countries, with a ranking in line with Canada, Norway and Switzerland.

The expectations of Australian firms have improved substantially since the previous quarter, with expectations for sales, profits, employment, inventories and capital investment all back in positive territory, and some indices making the greatest one-quarter change since the survey began in 1988.
